On Friday, May 15, we will meet in Agaete, La Sociedad del Valle, from 6:30 PM to 9:00 PM. An opportunity to dialogue and delve into the encounter between the traditional and the modern in our popular festivals.
What is happening in the festivals of our towns? How is modernity being received? How are the influence of the new and the weight of the traditional fitting in? Are cultures dynamic or static? What do we want? What limits and what opportunities are emerging?
We will feature the knowledge of:
– Dara Medina Chirino (sociologist)
– Gema Rosa Jiménez Armas (Rama de San Pedro, Agaete Valley)
– Francisco Montesdeoca Santana (Traída del barro La Atalaya, Santa Brígida)
– Carmelo Padrón Rodríguez (Carneros de Tigaday, Frontera – El Hierro)

We will round off the afternoon with a snack featuring local products.
This cycle is promoted by the Insular Institute for the Integrated Management of World Heritage and the Biosphere Reserve of the Cabildo de Gran Canaria as a meeting space for the exchange of knowledge, experiences, and perspectives.
