Talk — «Woman and Parliament: The voice of Africa» is feminine at Casa África, Las Palmas de Gran Canaria.
Charter 100 Canarias' mission is to support women to achieve real equality and equity between the two sexes, committing to professional development, entrepreneurship, and the consolidation of women in all areas of society, thus achieving female empowerment and leadership from freedom and diversity, from active participation and interculturality.
In its quest to be a benchmark organization that promotes change, achieving real changes in women's lives and transforming society through a dynamic, united, and efficient organization, building solid, relevant, and necessary projects, they organize various activities throughout the year aimed at this.
Within this framework, and considering that March is Women's Month, Charter 100 Canarias organizes these Conferences which, under the title Woman and Parliament. The voice of Africa is feminine, will be dedicated to analyzing the scarce presence of women in the legislative power of different African countries. These Conferences on Women and Legislative Power in Africa will bring together three representatives from Cape Verde, Senegal, and Mauritania, as well as other Spanish women with a presence on the African continent, to present their opinion related to the importance of women in parliamentary action and analyze its consequences on real equality. The initiative seeks to open a space for reflection and proposals that contribute to strengthening the leadership and making visible the role of African women parliamentarians.
The conferences will take place on Thursday, March 19, 2026, in the Assembly Hall of Casa África, at 7:00 PM. Attendance is free, but due to capacity reasons, it is necessary to register by writing to charter100canarias@gmail.com and indicating whether you will attend the event in Tenerife or Gran Canaria.
The speakers for these conferences are: Her Excellency Ms. Mircéa R. Delgado, Member of Parliament for Cape Verde; Ms. Fatou Ndiaye, jurist and activist from Senegal; Ms. Nayra Delgado Sosa, entrepreneur and activist from Mauritania; and Ms. Sonja Arup, businesswoman and activist from Gambia, Deputy Chief of the Gambia Fire and Rescue Service, Ambassador on Special Mission for Gambia, and President of STARUP Corazón Solidarios.
