Wednesday 4:

  Manuel Lobo Cabrera. Emeritus Professor of Modern History, ULPGC.
• 7:15 p.m.: Bodies, objects, and knowledge: enslaved women and ritual practices in the Canary Islands during the Modern Age
  Claudia Stella Geremia. Doctor and researcher specializing in ritual practices and the agency of African women in the Canary Islands (16th-18th centuries).

Wednesday 11:

• 6:30 p.m.: Roundtable
  • Slavery in transit. History and its effects on current society
    Speakers:
    Biselé, artist, Sonsoles Alterachs Bonaí, storyteller and narrator, Francisco Cabrera, historian, and Diego Flores, Axis Mundi collective.

Wednesday 18:

• 6:30 p.m.: Rio de la Plata experience of enslaved African women
  Jean Arsène Yao. Ivorian Professor expert in Afro-descendant populations in America and Spain.
• 7:15 p.m.: The Amazons of Dahomey: the historical reality behind the myth
  Dagauh Komenan. Historian specializing in Hispanic-African Relations and security in the Sahel.

Thursday 26:

We close the program «Paralelo ACA 28: Enslaved Women» with two cinematic proposals that invite us to look directly at stories that continue to beat beneath the surface of our past.

Hand in hand with Casa África (@casafrica), and thanks to the collaboration of FCAT (@fcatarifatanger), this last session brings us closer to two works that connect Africa, the Canary Islands, and America:

• 📽️ «Reverrever» (Spain, 2024)
  Dir. Javier Estupiñán (@javier.estupinan)
  A piece that places us in a territory suspended between life and memory, where the echoes of enslaved communities in the Canary Islands emerge as presences that challenge the present. A poetic and sensory narrative that connects landscape, history, and absence.
• 📽️ «Gurumbé. Songs of your Black memory» (Spain, 2016)
  Dir. Miguel Ángel Rosales (@miguel.angel.rosales)
  A documentary that recovers the history of African slavery in Spain, focusing on Seville and the cultural, social, and human traces left by enslaved people. A work that rescues from oblivion a key past for understanding our identity.

The Paralelo ACA (Africa ·Canary Islands · America) 28 project, Enslaved Women, is presented as an interdisciplinary program that combines conferences, round tables, workshops, and documentary screenings to analyze the legacy of slavery. Throughout the month of March, the initiative seeks to rescue historical memory and reflect on how racism and slavery continue to impact contemporary culture, and especially women.
