Bywater Call is a powerful collective of seven musicians from Toronto, Canada, formed in 2017, and led by the powerful voice of Meghan Parnell and the guitar of Dave Barnes. A lush hybrid of rock, blues, New Orleans funk, R&B, and southern soul.
Meghan's fierce yet gentle throat sounds like a cross between Susan Tedeschi and Bonnie Raitt, with the velvety roar of Janis Joplin, Joan Osbourne, and Joe Cocker.
They already have several European tours under their belt, which have catapulted them to important stages such as the Dutch Moulin Blues Festival and Joe Bonamassa's Keeping the Blues Alive cruise, where Meghan has been praised as one of the best blues and roots singers today.
Their first two albums, the self-titled debut from 2019, and its 2022 follow-up, Remain, are powerful demonstrations of that southern style that delights fans of The Band, The Black Crowes, or Little Feat.
Something that is materialized in Shepherd, their latest album, ten songs that demonstrate their exploration of new paths within the classicism of soul and rock without ignoring a contemporary sound.
