Chausson and Brahms united by the thread of emotion: Poème de l’amour et de la mer, a work of sensual textures and impressionistic atmosphere, is paired with Brahms' monumental First Symphony, a direct heir to Beethovenian pathos. The concert opens with Chabrier's delightful Habanera, with its ironic air and French color. A night between the evocative and the dramatic.
