Concert – Durón's Requiem
Concert ‘Durón’s Requiem’ at the Pérez Galdós Theater, Las Palmas de Gran Canaria.
‘Durón’s Requiem’ recovers a forgotten gem of Hispanic musical heritage: the ‘Officium Defunctorum’ by the baroque composer Diego Durón, chapel master of the Cathedral of the Canary Islands in the 17th century. This imposing mass for the dead, composed in 1705, resonates with solemnity and beauty in a proposal that connects us with the living history of sacred music in the archipelago. A program full of emotion, polyphonic richness, and instrumental color, which also includes works by Nicolás Tavares de Olivera and Joan Baptiste Cabanilles.
