Dance – I will go. How to dance a duel.

2 May @ 20:00 - 21:00

Next Saturday, May 2, at 8:00 PM, the Cultural Center of Santa Brígida, Gran Canaria, will open its doors for the performance of I will go. How to dance a duel, a production by Lorite² Producciones. .

Luis R. Lorite premieres in Santa Brígida. The City Council, through the Department of Culture, invites citizens to enjoy one of the most intimate and reflective proposals of the current theatrical season.

Under the direction of Luis R. Lorite, the work features a top-level cast composed of Juan León, Cathy Pulido, and Agustina García. The piece addresses the emotional complexity of grief, using the language of the body and dance to give voice to what words often fail to express.

About the Work
I will go. How to dance a duel is not just a dance show; it is a scenic investigation into absence and resilience. Through a carefully crafted staging, the performers navigate the different stages of loss, transforming pain into movement and memory into a living act on stage.

Lorite² Productions
The company, based in Santa Brígida, has consolidated itself as a benchmark in contemporary creation in the islands. Directed by Luis R. Lorite, the production company stands out for projects that hybridize dance, theater, and cultural mediation. Among its most recent works is also Poco Bailamos, a piece that vindicates the unconventional history of dance in the Canary Islands and has received support from INAEM and the Ministry of Culture.

The company Lorite² Producciones has recently been in the cultural spotlight thanks to its work in recovering the historical memory of dance in the islands. Its director, Luis R. Lorite, has highlighted in various interviews that his objective is to «activate questions through the body,» integrating oral archives and local biographies (such as that of dancer Juan León, also a protagonist in this work) to build an artistic narrative that connects directly with the identity of the territory.

Critics have highlighted the ability of their productions to address universal themes from a deeply human and close perspective, moving away from melodrama to focus on the «dignity of those who move forward,» a theme that strongly resonates in this presentation in Santa Brígida.
