CYCLE TIME OF MEMORY, MEMORY IN TIME

Cinema is a territory where time folds, a place where shadows and light awaken memories we thought were dormant. In the new edition of “Time of memory, memory in time”, which begins its third journey, we delve into that space where images become custodians of the past and seeds of the future, reminding us that Cultural Heritage is not a distant echo, but a presence that continues to beat.

Synopsis: The documentary «Blas Cabrera. History of Physics» is a fascinating journey through the life and contributions of the illustrious universal Canarian scientist Blas Cabrera Felipe, who would be called the «father of Spanish physics». From his humble beginnings in Lanzarote and La Laguna, his consolidation in Madrid until he became a prominent internationally renowned physicist, forming part of the elite of European science in the first half of the 20th century alongside his colleagues Albert Einstein, Marie Curie, Niels Bohr, Erwin Schrödinger among others. The documentary narrates key moments of his career and personal life. From Einstein's historic visit to Madrid in 1923, his prominent participation in the legendary Solvay Conferences to his purge after the Civil War, his exile and death in Mexico in 1945. The recovery of his memory and his unpublished manuscript legacy, fruit of the collaboration of the Complutense University of Madrid and the family, descendants of Blas Cabrera, together with the University of La Laguna, is also highlighted. It also shows the repatriation of his mortal remains to La Laguna in Tenerife in 2022 and the recent renaming of the Institute of Physical Chemistry (IQF) Blas Cabrera in his honor by the CSIC.
