Feria — BARULLO, independent publishing and printed expression fair in El Soco, Las Palmas de Gran Canaria.

Barullo is born!! Independent publishing and printed expression fair of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. Artist books, photobooks, and all printed expression represent spaces of communication and creative freedom that develop alternative narratives to digital media.

Several lovers of images, publications, and art have joined forces to create a meeting space with other passionate individuals to celebrate the creative moment the community is experiencing on the islands, creating an event that serves as a space to share knowledge, creativity, and common experiences.

This fair is born with the motivation to bring together artists, independent publishers, and interested audiences around the universe of the book and all types of publications as artistic, experimental, and political objects. A demonstration that print is a form of cultural counterpoint to mass consumption. There will be three days full of publications, talks, workshops, and music where we invite all creators and the curious to celebrate the passion for print.

Friday 19

• 17:00h – Opening of the Fair.
• 18:00h – Talk by Joel Peláez – In the Canaries with a camera: A possible genealogy of the photobook in the Canaries.
• 19:00h – DJ Set by Superseñorita.

Saturday 20

• 11:00 h – Opening of the fair.
  Workshop with Daniel L. Fleitas: Three hours looking through a glass.
• 13:00 h – Barullo Speakers Corner: 3 minutes to tell your story.
• 18:00 h – Talk by Mela Dávila: Artist books, photobooks, and other derivations of editorial experimentation.
• 19:15 h – Exhibition visit with Mela Dávila: Come and see: some artist posters.
• 19:30 h – DJ set: Karlst.

Sunday 21

• 11:00 h – Opening of the fair.
• 11:30 h – Children's workshop with Sheila Melhem: The little artist book.
• 12:00 h – DJ set: Akira Tanaka.
• 15:30 h – Closing of exhibitors.
• 17:00 h – Closing concert with La Cofradía.
