GGJ 2026 Machanguito Jam

The Global Game Jam returns to the Canary Islands! We are back!

This year we wanted to put a twist on our name and have opted for ***DRUMROLL***:

The Machanguito Jam!, a new version, more Canarian than ever, and with a lot of love and passion for what we like most: «the machanguitos thing»!

According to the Dictionary of Canarianisms, a machanguito is:

➡️ Human or animal figure made of any material, or painted or drawn, made without any care.
🧸 «You give them a notebook and a pencil, and they entertain themselves by making machangos» 🧸

But well, we're not going to fill this up much more. To make things (substantially) easier than last year, we have prepared a very nice website where you can find all the event information: where to upload games, how to sign up, where everything will be on each island, and a lot more little things.

The two venues you can see on the GGJ page (both Tenerife and Gran Canaria) will primarily serve to register for the event and upload projects. You can find the instructions for doing this on our website.

But well, let's leave a good summary here:

☑️ Hybrid: Participate in person or online. Although we always encourage you to attend in person, we know that it is not always possible. In that case, you can simply sign up for one of the venues and you would be ready.
☑️ Activities: Before and during the event we will have several activities such as game presentations, talks, and game creation workshops.
☑️ Dinner with developers: On Saturday we will all go out to dinner, so don't miss it!

The event will last three days, during which we will have time to share experiences, develop projects, but also to have fun and learn new things. We will have food and different refreshments during the 3 days thanks to our sponsors. In addition, we will have several nearby food places, so it will not be necessary to bring anything more than the desire to participate.
