Opening – Exhibition: Manolo Millares. Centenary
Opening of the Exhibition «Manolo Millares. Centenary» at the La Regenta Art Center in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria.
The La Regenta Art Center commemorates the centenary of Manolo Millares (Gran Canaria, 1926 – Madrid, 1972), one of the main references of island art and one of the most prominent figures in 20th-century Spanish art.
This exhibition is a journey through the career of this Canarian and universal creator, decisive in the renewal of plastic languages during the Spanish post-war period, both from his activity in the Canary Islands and for his participation in avant-garde movements in the national and international spheres.
The halls of La Regenta exhibit a selection of his most mature production, from the late fifties until his last works from the early seventies, including some of his iconic sackcloths, as well as paintings on paper and ink drawings.
Free admission.
