Inauguration – Exhibitions «Painting Painting and Dreaming Another Ithaca»
Inauguration of the Exhibitions Pintura Pintura and Soñando otra Ítaca at CAAM, Las Palmas de Gran Canaria.
We are inaugurating exhibitions! We invite you to celebrate the reopening of the main headquarters of CAAM on July 8, with the inauguration of two major exhibitions dedicated to the Canarian painter Juan José Gil and the Cuban artist Sandra Ramos.
Pintura Pintura is the great retrospective that will bring us closer to the artistic universe of Juan José Gil (Gran Canaria, 1947-2023) through more than a hundred works by this painter, a reference of the Seventy Generation in the Canary Islands. His artistic production, marked by reflection on landscape, insularity, memory, and collective experience, maintains a unique position within contemporary Spanish art. Curator: Miguel Cereceda, with the assistance of Alicia Batista.
Soñando otra Ítaca proposes a journey through the work of Sandra Ramos (Havana, 1969) through works articulated by her interest in art as a way of projecting new possible places in the face of a convulsed world. From her early prints, a reflection of the crisis in Cuba in the 90s, to recent installations and video animations, her critical and poetic view of reality expands, revealing the complexities and contradictions of the current global environment. Curator: Wendy Navarro.
It will be a great day. Join us!
