

Community Health Days of the Villa de Santa Brígida
VII Community Health Conference of the Villa de Santa Brígida in different municipal spaces, Santa Brígida, Gran Canaria.
Santa Brígida will celebrate the VII Community Health Conference of the Villa de Santa Brígida from May 18 to 22, an event that once again focuses on prevention, self-care, and the promotion of healthy habits among citizens. Under the slogan "Building well-being together," the initiative is driven by health professionals and organized by the Health Center of the Villa de Santa Brígida, with the collaboration of the City Council, through the Department of Health and the Municipal Sports Society.
For five days, residents will have free access to workshops, talks, physical activities, preventive screenings, and learning spaces designed to offer practical knowledge and tools that contribute to improving quality of life and fostering a healthier community.
The program will kick off on Monday, May 18, at 7:00 PM, in the Courtyard of the Santa Brígida City Hall with the inaugural ceremony of the conference, which will include the official opening, the performance of the comedy sketch "Mañana empiezo" (Tomorrow I start), directed by Iris García, a tribute to the professionals of the Santa Brígida Health Center, and a welcome cocktail.
On Tuesday, May 19, under the title "Eating well to live better," the Municipal Senior Club will host, from 10:00 AM, a workshop on healthy and balanced eating with label reading, led by Marta Vega, a resident physician, along with nurses Sonia Mendoza and Sandra Morales. The morning will conclude with a healthy bingo. In the afternoon, the Municipal Library will open its doors to children with the storytelling session "La neurona exploradora" (The explorer neuron), by psychologist Silvia Luján, followed by the workshop "El tren de los buenos hábitos" (The train of good habits) for children under 8 years old, directed by pediatrician Iballa Reyes and pediatrics resident Ana Quesada.
Wednesday, May 20, dedicated to prevention, will offer various screening stations at the Municipal Senior Club between 10:30 AM and 12:00 PM, including ultrasounds for the detection of abdominal aortic aneurysms, dermatoscopies for skin cancer prevention, examinations for oral cancer detection, information sessions on breast self-examination, and basic cardiovascular control tests with health education. Afterwards, Linda Sunthorn and José A. Marrero will give an informative talk on the Health Center's Administrative Unit.
On Thursday, May 21, the activity will focus on movement and physical activity under the slogan "Moving is health." Starting at 10:30 AM, physiotherapist Margarita S. Santana and case management nurse M.ª Eugenia de la Fé will lead adapted exercise Olympics. Later, social worker Silvia Chessa and nurse Mireia Miranda will conduct a dance workshop.
The conference will conclude on Friday, May 22, with a focus on emotional well-being. Psychologist and psychotherapist Francisco Ramírez will offer, at 10:30 AM, the workshop "Bienestar y consumo: más allá de los mitos" (Well-being and consumption: beyond the myths), while Gestalt therapist and Biodanza facilitator Elsa Jayasuria will lead, at 11:30 AM, the session "Emociones en movimiento" (Emotions in motion). The official closing will take place at 1:30 PM.
