Music – The Irish community pays tribute to Saint Brigid in the Parish of Saint Brigid, Gran Canaria.
The Irish community will pay tribute to Saint Brigid this Saturday, January 31, in an event that highlights the deep cultural and historical ties between Ireland and the Town. The celebration, of a marked symbolic nature, will begin at 11:30 a.m. and will feature the participation of local Irish musicians who will join the Saint Brigid Choir, strengthening the dialogue and connection that unites both territories.
As part of the program, at 12:30 p.m., the Irish musicians along with the Folk Group of the Municipal School of Music of the Town of Santa Brígida will also offer a performance in the Church Square.
The figure of Saint Brigid has its roots in ancient pre-Christian Ireland, linked to the Celtic goddess Brigit, a symbol of rebirth, light, and the protection of home and flocks. Over time, this ancestral heritage was integrated into the Christian tradition, giving rise to Saint Brigid canonized in the 7th century and becoming the Patroness of Ireland.
The day is conceived to highlight the cultural and historical value of Saint Brigid as a link between peoples and traditions.
