Book Presentation: «What Color Are White People» at Casa África, Las Palmas de Gran Canaria.
Within the framework of Casa África's African Letters program, the essay is presented What Color Are White People, by Odome Angone. The work reflects on the concept of “whiteness” beyond skin color, questioning racial hierarchies inherited from colonialism and how these influence identity, power, and social perception. Through a critical and provocative lens, the author analyzes how the category of “white” functions as a symbol of privilege, norm, and cultural authority, even in African contexts, revealing contradictions and tensions in the construction of postcolonial identity. The text combines irony and historical analysis to invite the reader to rethink notions of race, belonging, and symbolic domination. The author invites us to discover the stories that connect the African continent, everyday life, and Spanish Afro-descendance, fostering empathy and mutual understanding.
