Book Presentation ‘Guardians of our children’ at the Insular Library of Gran Canaria, Las Palmas de Gran Canaria.

Our children do not belong to us, but we are their guardians. We do not guard their bodies, but the hope that sustains them. Iraya knew it when she felt the weight of the chains on her wrists, and Tindana
understood it when she looked up at a sky that was no longer hers. In that April of 1490, when the
city of Seville opened to auction their lives, they chose to resist not only for themselves, but
for those who had not yet been born. Because being free is not always escaping from prison, but preser-
ving the seed of integrity to deliver it intact to the children who will one day inherit it.
