Workshop — CeroPoéticas: «Different birds from the same branch» at CeroFanzine, Las Palmas de Gran Canaria.
Leonard Cohen, Silvia Pérez Cruz, Joan Manuel Serrat and Sheila Blanco have something in common: they have made the birds of poetry migrate to the forest of music, turning the verses of Antonio Machado, Rosalía de Castro or Federico García Lorca into songs. They have transformed song into a bridge. In this workshop, the goal is to cross it.
Through various examples of songs and artists, the poet and composer Celia Bsoul will explore different types of relationships between poetry and music, and will explore how we can learn from both when creating. Through listening, analysis and practical exercises, we will investigate what happens when poems decide to be songs, or when they resist it and transform into a genuine hybrid.
