Workshop – Creation from the rural environment

Workshop on «Creation from the rural environment» for young artists at the Youth Information Center of Valsequillo, Gran Canaria.

The initiative proposes an experimentation space where music, photography, and writing combine to build a creative process that will culminate in the creation of a collective fanzine, made entirely by the young participants. The objective is to foster creation from direct observation of the environment, highlighting the rural identity and the knowledge of the municipality.

Five sessions to create from the territory
The workshop will begin on February 3rd at 6:00 PM at the Youth Information Center of Valsequillo, and will take place in several sessions scheduled between February and March 2026. It is aimed at young people over 12 years old and places are limited.

During the process, work will be done on:

• The exploration of rural identity from the body, listening, and gaze.
• The creation of materials that reflect how young people perceive their territory.
• The creation of a collective piece that gathers those diverse perspectives.
• The production of portraits and illustrations about the rural environment and its cultural heritage.
• Training in photographic expression as a tool to understand the environment and narrate it from authenticity.
