Theater – This is Different

The premises of the AAVV of Pino Santo Alto hosts the March 7, at 7:30 p.m., the performance of Thisis different, a scenic proposal of a traditional and family-oriented nature that highlights the memory, identity, and ways of life of the Canarian rural world.

The show, led by the actress Mónica Lleó, is based on a text by the Canarian author Donina Romero, whose words serve as a common thread for a close, recognizable, and deeply rooted staging in oral tradition. Through everyday scenes and characters that evoke life from yesteryear, the play invites the audience to reconnect with customs, gestures, and ways of speaking that are part of the intangible heritage of the Canary Islands.

Before the start of the performance, Lleó herself will offer a portrait of Donina Romero, with the aim of bringing the author's figure, her vital context, and the importance of her writing as a testimony of an era and a way of understanding life closer to the public. This preamble will allow for a better understanding of the text's value and its relevance, as well as the implicit tribute to so many women who have sustained collective memory from the everyday.

The evening will culminate with a discussion in which issues such as the role of rural women, the intergenerational transmission of knowledge and the richness of the Canarian dialect as a sign of cultural identity.

Thisis different is part of the program designed by the Department of Culture headed by Avelina Fernández Manrique de Lara for this month of March.
