The theatrical and social event that marked a milestone in 2010 returns: Federico García Lorca's «The House of Bernarda Alba», staged by the Colectivo de Mujeres de El Vacie and TNT. Under the direction and dramaturgy of Pepa Gamboa, this production brings together Gypsy women from Europe's oldest shantytown settlement to bring Lorca's tragedy to life with unparalleled authenticity and power. The production celebrates the theatrical legacy of these women, now integrating three generations of the Montero clan on stage, and serves as a testament to their struggle for social inclusion and visibility.
The play, subtitled as a drama of women in the villages of Spain, explores oppression, desire, and waiting in a suspended time. In this version, that waiting takes shape in the reality of the women of El Vacie, for whom every moment on stage transcends the theatrical and touches life itself. With a cast that includes Rocío Montero, Luna Guillén Lobato, and Sandra Ramírez Montero, the piece has been internationally recognized, receiving praise from the European Union's Justice Commission for its social impact.
