Theater – «Perfecta»

The Santa Brígida City Council, Gran Canaria, invites citizens to enjoy, next March 13, the play «Perfecta», the incisive monologue by Italian playwright Mattia Torre, an undisputed reference in contemporary theater. The performance will take place at 8:00 p.m. at the Cultural Center, with free admission. .

The play has been touring nationally since last November. Signed in Spain by the company TodoArt13, it arrives in monologue format performed by Bárbara Végmed and directed by José Luis Donaldson. .

True to Torre's precise and sharp narrative, this version explores with humor and irony the social pressure to be “perfect” in all spheres of life, revealing the “invisible cages” that impose unattainable aesthetic and behavioral models. The story is structured around four Tuesdays —in dialogue with the cycle and the moon— and maintains a pressing rhythm that transforms the everyday into a biting x-ray of contemporary reality.

Bárbara Végmed traces a close and direct emotional journey, appealing to women and men alike. The play does not aim to explain, but rather to provoke conversation about gender expectations and the search for authenticity in a world that often demands uniformity. Perfecta is satire, poetry, and biological truth, and leaves a maxim that resonates with the audience: “My days are all identical. The one who changes is ME.”

Founded in 2003, TodoArt13 has evolved from dance towards a scenic poetics that integrates text and audiovisuals. Its trajectory includes projects such as Interculturalidad Canarias–México and presence on stages in New York (Fresh Fruit Festival), the United Kingdom, Ecuador, Portugal, and Spain. In Castilla y León, it opened the season at the Teatro Ramos Carrión, presented Frida Kahlo in the Escenario Patrimonio cycle, and has expanded its repertoire with titles such as La más fuerte, by August Strindberg. .

The play is part of the cultural program directed by Avelina Fernández Manrique de Lara for this month of March.
