Guided Tour of the Exhibition «Antonio & I» by Cayetana H. Cuyás at the ULPGC Art Gallery, Las Palmas de Gran Canaria.

The work of Cayetana H. Cuyás stems from a personal investigation into origin, memory, and family ties as drivers of creation. Trained in an environment where art has always been a form of transmission and care, her practice combines painting and cinema as complementary languages from which to explore her artistic identity.

Over the last ten years, her pictorial work has constantly dialogued with the figure of her uncle, Antonio Gómez, a fashion designer whose career developed in Italy in the 1970s and 1980s. This relationship also led to her cinematic debut, THE PRADO & THE MOON (2025), a project that articulates family memory and contemporary creation.

In this exhibition, the artist proposes an eminently plastic approach, where her work shares space for the first time with a selection of pieces by Antonio Gómez. The result is an intergenerational dialogue presented in an institutional context understood as a “public home,” activating a space for encounter between past and present, influence and personal affirmation.
