Display of archaeological materials recovered and documented in archaeological interventions originated as a result of complaints/notifications from citizens to the Heritage Service of the Cabildo de Gran Canaria.

This exhibition is part of the activities organized under the motto “A common commitment. Archaeological heritage and citizen participation”. The conservation and protection of archaeological heritage is a joint task in which both citizens and public administrations must be involved. It is the most appropriate formula to guarantee the social use of these cultural assets and also ensure that they can be enjoyed by future generations. This common commitment must be built on encounter, participation, collaboration, listening, accessibility, mutual learning, inclusion, responsibility, respect, reflection, and the conviction that it is a task that will allow us to improve as a collective.

The intention of this exhibition is to return to citizens the result of their active participation in the protection of the island's archaeological heritage and to explain the information recovered from archaeological contexts that, in more than one case, were in danger of disappearing. These materials, and the places where they were found, today enrich a shared cultural heritage.
