Concert «Classics at Quegles» at the Palacete Rodríguez Quegles, Las Palmas de Gran Canaria.
The Khufu-Anch ensemble was formed within the chamber music classroom of the Conservatorio Superior de Música de Canarias in 2010 due to the members“ interest in chamber music. As a quintet, it has participated in ”Momentos de Música“ at San Martín Centro de Cultura Contemporánea, ”Jornadas de Música de Cámara“ in Villa de Moya, ”Semana de Sonidos y Motivos“ in Arucas, and in concerts in various halls and museums of the Canary archipelago. It won third prize in the II ”Ciudad de Guía« Chamber Music Award. In 2017, it was included in the program of the »Cueva de los Verdes» Music Festival in Lanzarote and in the program of the ULPGC Auditorium. It was also selected for the final concert before the start of the remodeling of the Néstor Museum in Las Palmas de G.C. Khufu-Anch was included in the 2018 and 2020 programs of the MapfreGuanarteme Foundation. In 2019, it was selected for the educational concerts framed within the International Music Festival of La Palma. Subsequently, it expanded its range of chamber formations with the aim of undertaking different projects: piano quintet, reed trio, etc. Currently, all its members pursue a musical career as performers and pedagogues, both within the archipelago and throughout Europe.
The most important works by E. Grieg (1843-1907) are nationalist in nature, the best known being “Peer Gynt”, based on a work by Ibsen and which narrates the adventures of a Norwegian shepherd -who represents Norway itself- wandering the world.
Despite the poor reviews of the incidental music, Bizet arranged his work into a four-movement suite. Today known as L’Arlésienne Suite No. 1, this suite employs a full symphony orchestra without a choir. Its premiere took place at a concert given by the Pasdeloup Orchestra on November 10, 1872.
