Ton Koopman appears before the OFGC with a program that traces the stylistic transition from the splendor of French Baroque to the forms of Classicism. If Rameau's Suite from Les Indes galantes displays the theatrical exoticism of the 18th century, Haydn fully introduces us to the realm of balance with his Cello Concerto No. 1, featuring the brilliant Spanish star of the instrument Pablo Ferrández as soloist, and Symphony No. 100 “Military”, the eighth in the masterful series composed by the Austrian genius on the occasion of his first trip to London and which owes its nickname “Military” to the fanfare and the thunderous “Turkish” percussion of the second and fourth movements.
