II Forum on culture, gastronomy and cinema, at the Institutional Headquarters of the ULPGC, Las Palmas de Gran Canaria – «Christmas movie menus»
Cinema as an educational, cultural and informative tool discovers another way for us to become cultured and communicate about areas of great interest to citizens such as Gastronomy and Health.
Main objectives
- a) Learn about Gastronomy, Health and Cinema, through watching films, short films and documentaries from the five continents.
- b) Dialogue forum between experts in these subjects and the public.
- c) Raise awareness of the importance of these arts in Health (physical, mental and social).
- d) Generate a cultural debate on these topics in the University Community and in Society
Organization
Organization of the eighth edition
Host-moderator: Dr. José Antonio González. Doctor in Biological Sciences. He is a marine and fisheries biologist. Honorary Professor of the ULPGC, where he works as a researcher, lecturer, and cultural promoter. Director of the Science & Gastronomy Cultural Classroom – ULPGC.
Guest experts:
Ms. Ana Luisa Álvarez Falcón. Director of the ULPGC GastroFood HUB. Dietitian-nutritionist with a lifetime of experience at the Dr. Negrín University Hospital. Associate researcher at the ULPGC. Member of the Las Palmas Academy of Gastronomy.
Dr. Belén Alonso Ortiz. Doctor of Medicine from the ULPGC. Associate Professor at the ULPGC, assigned to the Dept. of Medical and Surgical Sciences. She works professionally as an Attending Physician in the Internal Medicine Service of the H.U. of Gran Canaria Doctor Negrín, Tutor of Internal Medicine Residents. Cinephile and gastronome.
Format
The complete session will have a maximum duration of 2 hours. It will begin with the presentation of the guest speaker, a screening of the documentary “A pedir de boca: acuicultura, peces de crianza” and a cultural debate including film, health, and gastronomic aspects.
