Inauguration – Exhibition: The Multiplied Original
Inauguration of the Exhibition ‘The Multiplied Original’ at Casa de Colón, Las Palmas de Gran Canaria.
Casa de Colón presents a temporary exhibition dedicated to engraving as an artistic, historical, and cultural dissemination medium. The exhibition brings together works belonging to the collection of the Cabildo de Gran Canaria and proposes a journey spanning from the 16th century to the end of the 20th century, allowing visitors to appreciate the technical and expressive evolution of this discipline.
Engraving played a decisive role in the circulation of political, religious, philosophical, or aesthetic ideas. In its origins, the print was linked to book publishing until it became a medium of artistic expression with full autonomy, allowing images to be reproduced, their reach expanded, and access to knowledge facilitated. The exhibition highlights how these prints reflect the transformations of a society marked by political, religious, philosophical, and aesthetic changes.
Visitors will be able to observe works that illustrate the complexity of graphic art and its capacity to generate new visual interpretations in each historical context. The exhibition is also an invitation to reflect on the role of engraving in the construction of a shared culture.
Curators: Ramón Gil Romero and Francisco Javier Pueyo Abril.
The exhibition will run until February 15, 2026.
Free admission.
