Conference – Artistic Creation and Public Policies
Conference on Artistic Creation and Public Policies in the Canary Islands, at the Casa Palacio of the Cabildo de Gran Canaria, Las Palmas de Gran Canaria.
A crucial event for the sector.
Promoted by the Ministry of Culture and directed by the PSJM team (Cynthia Viera and Pablo San José), these conferences will be held in the Multipurpose Room of the Casa Palacio of the Cabildo de Gran Canaria.
This meeting continues the successful workshop and exhibition “Participatory Art and Cultural Public Policies” from early 2025. It is part of a new strategic line of the General Sub-directorate of Visual Arts and Contemporary Creation of the Ministry of Culture to analyze and improve the conditions of visual arts professionals, paying special attention to the unique insular nature of the Canary Islands.
We will address three key areas:
1. Taxation and artistic mobility in the Canary Islands: REF, customs, and Treasury.
2. Subsidies and contracts: Analyzing fair funding and support models.
3. Visual artist's statute: Improving working conditions and recognition.
We will feature expert voices from state, local, and inter-island spheres, artists and association members. Active participation and debate will be fundamental!
