Content: Lecture The music of composer Laura Vega.
In this talk, the Canarian composer Laura Vega herself will present her work Zafra, a Canarian concerto for timple and symphonic band, through a reflection on her musical creation processes, tracing the path from the birth of ideas and inspiration to their materialization in the score and their subsequent performance before the public. Laura Vega will also share her vision on decision-making related to the choice of musical structures and forms, instrumental ensembles, harmonies, melodies, rhythms, and textures, as well as the influence of collaboration with performers on the final outcome of a work.
Through other works in her catalog, aspects such as the interdisciplinary relationship with other artistic manifestations, such as literature, painting, or dance, will be addressed, illustrated with various examples from her production. During the activity, fragments of some of her compositions will be heard.
During the active music listening sessions, Vega provides students with tools for technical analysis and historical contextualization of the work in question, its author, its different movements, the instruments involved, among other elements, thus helping students understand the creative process and the sonic elements that make up each piece.
