Poetry and dance – Polyhedron of love
Poetry and dance – «Polyhedron of Love» at the Pérez Galdós Theater, Las Palmas de Gran Canaria.
Témpore Company presents ‘Polyhedron of Love’, a show of music, dance, and poetry that exalts the sweet, bitter, and immortal faces of love.
We are born alone. We grow in an intimate solitude of mind and body. And we know that, alone, we will die.
How to transcend our particular and minuscule lives? How to satisfactorily overcome this breakdown, this abyss that is none other than that of human existence? Only, by loving.
Loving our neighbor, our friend, our lover, our mother, our father, our child. Loving God, loving art or science, loving life. Even loving to limits that, like a sovereign torment, manage to destroy us.
Sometimes delight, sometimes martyrdom, love is the inexhaustible source that sustains and unites us. The breath, always unsatisfied, of peoples and humanity.
Témpore presents ‘Polyhedron of Love’, an original show that exalts the multiple facets of love through music, dance, and poetry.
Voices, instrumentation, tribal percussion, and movement celebrate exquisite texts by great poets of love, such as Saint Teresa of Jesus, Saint John of the Cross, Gustavo Adolfo Bécquer, Jorge Luis Borges, Antonio Gala, and Pablo Neruda, among others.
The work, conceived by artistic director Yanira Sánchez, features the original soundscape by Vicente Umpiérrez, and stars about fifteen Canarian artists.
