Riscos de Colores, the new exhibition by José Javier Melián Santana, arrives at Casa Gourié with an artistic look at heritage and reuse. On Friday, June 12, at 11:00 AM, the presentation of the exhibition Riscos de Colores, by artist José Javier Melián Santana, will take place on social media. It can be visited at Casa Gourié. Municipal Museum of Arucas from June 12 to August 28, 2026.

The exhibition brings together around forty works in which painting and sculpture dialogue through an original technique that combines acrylic on reused pallets, turning disposable materials into artistic supports full of personality.

This exhibition stems from his close personal connection with the place: my early years were spent in my grandmothers' houses, in those cobbled alleys nestled between cubic houses and rooftops that, like a multicolored puzzle, descended over the city, offering infinite viewpoints towards the neighboring cliffs of San Juan and San Roque.

Riscos de Colores claims the historical and cultural significance of one of the oldest neighborhoods on the island and, at the same time, highlights the reuse of materials, preserving the cracks, knots, and imperfections of the wood in its pieces as an essential part of its artistic language.

The exhibition brings, in these festive days and on the cusp of summer, the magic of light, color, the sensation of the wind and the sea salt, in addition to highlighting the popular and authentic architecture of this fishing neighborhood, which evokes other Atlantic or Mediterranean enclaves, such as Greece. It is an original exhibition that invites the viewer to discover the shapes of the buildings, the vegetation, and the seemingly endless alleyways, offering unusual perspectives.

The exhibition can be visited during the usual summer hours, Monday to Friday, from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM.
