Presentation – Book: Brushstrokes written with drawn words
Book presentation «Brushstrokes written with drawn words», by Carmen Salcedo Cárdenas at the Municipal Library of Santa Brígida, Gran Canaria.
The Santa Brígida City Council invites citizens to the presentation of Brushstrokes written with drawn words, by Carmen Salcedo Cárdenas, which will take place next January 22, at 6:30 p.m. in the Municipal Library. It is a poetic and artistic anthology published under the Editorial Círculo Rojo imprint.
The work stands as an emotional journey between word and image. It brings together a careful selection of paintings created by the author since 2000, accompanied by verses that evoke universal emotions, memories, and aspirations. Each page establishes an intimate dialogue between color and word, where the image does not illustrate the poem nor does the poem explain the image, but rather both complement and enrich each other.
One of the great values of Brushstrokes written with Drawn Words is its accessibility: it is a fluid, evocative, and approachable read, designed to be enjoyed by readers of all ages, both poetry and visual art lovers.
Carmen Salcedo Cárdenas is a doctor, originally from Granada, and has practiced her specialty in Family and Community Medicine within the Andalusian and Canarian public health system. For years she has resided in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, where she has managed to combine her professional work with her artistic vocation. In her leisure time, reading, music, painting, and travel have been constant sources of inspiration.
The numerous trips made through Europe, Asia, Africa, and America have left a deep mark on her work. Some of the paintings included in this book —such as Grove, Bicycle, Orchard, Africa, Seagulls o River— are born directly from these experiences, always accompanied by her fondness for music and pictorial creation.
With Brushstrokes written with Drawn Words, Carmen Salcedo Cárdenas offers the reader an intimate and luminous work, where art and word merge to celebrate beauty, memory, and shared emotion.
The event is part of the program designed by the Department of Culture for the month of January.
