Presentation – Film «Like a Tree That Blooms»
Presentation of the Film «Like a blossoming tree» at the Municipal Library of Santa Brígida, Gran Canaria.
“What is it to become a mother?” is the question that inspired Canarian filmmaker Victoria Castro when she became pregnant in 2021. The filming developed organically over the nine months, without a fixed plan, and had the creative accompaniment of an online space that allowed the recordings not to be forgotten.
In a special screening at the Municipal Library of Santa Brígida, on March 12 at 7:00 PM we will have the opportunity to enjoy the medium-length film Like a blossoming tree (duration 45′) which poetically addresses the experience of pregnancy. The screening will be followed by a small discussion, where we can talk about the poetic universe of the work, as well as about contemplation and sustained attention as a form of care. .
In Castro's words, the experience taught her to value the essential: being well to care, connecting with nature and with one's own body, and letting time and processes take their course. The work is an intimate and sensory exercise on motherhood, beyond the narrative or conventional. The soundtrack, created with a synthesizer, reinforces the sensory dimension of the work.
The event is part of the Equality program of the Santa Brígida City Council for Women's Week.
