Workshop – The square as an expanded classroom

Workshop «The square as an expanded classroom» within the TAC!2025 Festival in Stagno Square, Las Palmas de Gran Canaria.

The ULPGC School of Architecture moves to the ‘De Roca Madre’ pavilion with a theoretical-practical class held in public space, within the framework of the subject Urbanism, Spatial Planning and Urban Planning Projects, belonging to the Department of Art, City and Territory.

The classroom moves to the square with the purpose of addressing, from the island context, the central themes of the festival and fostering critical reflection on the role of architecture and urbanism to creatively question our relationship with the immediate environment.

Thus, new learning methodologies linked to the critical use of public space are promoted, understood as a space conducive to observation, participation and urban reflection, expanding the concept of the square as an expanded classroom.
