Madrid 2025. Pedro Berriel, a 53-year-old orchestra conductor, is immersed in recording Tchaikovsky's Symphony No. 6. So concentrated on his task that he naturally assumes the Russian composer is attentively following the rehearsals by his side. But perhaps, the true reason for this delusion is that the conductor is in the terminal phase of a terrible illness. The anguish of completing the artistic work that, in some way, represents a resistance to his own death mixes with the real anguish that this produces in him.
Jon, Pedro's husband, forces him to continue medical treatment without surrendering to despair, despite the aggressiveness of the treatment making his artistic endeavor impossible. At a moment when his condition seems to improve, and seized by an overwhelming vital energy, Pedro decides to accept the invitation from the International Tchaikovsky Competition to conduct The Pathetic in Moscow during the closing gala. President Putin will be the authority presiding over the event. Pedro conceives an idea: if he ultimately cannot finish the recording destined to become his artistic legacy, he will at least try to carry out an action in front of the homophobic president that will make his live conducting of The Pathetic go down in history. Even if it's not precisely art history.
