In January, we invite you to delve into a story rarely told. What happened at La Fortaleza after April 29, 1483?
On this special visit, you will explore the site with a different perspective, discovering the spaces that were reinterpreted, reused, and sometimes completely transformed after the conquest.
The settlement did not die out after the conquest; on the contrary, it began to beat in a different way. Among the stone walls, caves, plains, and ravines that surround it, the traces of a time of profound changes still vibrate. Hand in hand with an archaeologist, you will discover how two worlds collided: the one that had transformed the space as a place of life and death for 40 generations and the new world that burst in with the Castilian conquest.
How was the relationship with the landscape redefined? What new uses did the caves and structures acquire? What marks did the arrival of a different society leave, with its own norms, beliefs, and ways of understanding the world?
If you wish to rediscover La Fortaleza from an unexpected perspective, to understand its history beyond the aboriginal world, this experience is for you.
We await you to walk among the echoes of two worlds!
Afterwards, you can access the Museum of La Fortaleza freely and free of charge. You can do so immediately or throughout the day (last access time at 16:00).
