Hiking — Between Pine Forests and Stone Giants: The Dove Trail in Cruz de Tejeda, Gran Canaria, with Bendaya Aventuras.
Circular route that connects the purest essence of Gran Canaria's peaks, starting from Cruz de Tejeda towards the less-traveled corners of Cueva Corcho, to culminate in one of the island's most impressive natural balconies: the Degollada de las Palomas. The route begins with a gentle descent towards the Cueva Corcho area, where the landscape opens up towards the Madrelagua ravine, offering initial panoramic views with the coast in the background. From here, the trail enters a lush Canary pine forest, between forest tracks and old traditional paths, where silence and the scent of pine needles set the pace. As we gain altitude, the route becomes more immersive, crossing pastoral areas and marked trails that connect with historic royal roads. These roads have been used since pre-Hispanic times and still retain archaeological vestiges in their surroundings.
The highlight arrives upon reaching the Degollada de las Palomas, an authentic natural window over the Caldera de Tejeda, from where the island's geological icons such as Roque Nublo and Roque Bentayga emerge, offering a visual spectacle difficult to surpass. From the viewpoint, the trail connects with the GR-138 in the direction of Cruz de Tejeda, traversing a ridge with constant and open panoramic views. The return journey closes the circle through pine forests and familiar trails, completing a very balanced experience between nature, history, and landscape.
